Summer Intersession Begins In Virginia Beach

Seatack Elementary, An Achievable Dream Academy opened on Monday, July 21 in Virginia Beach for Summer Intersession. Students were met by teachers and administrators for the daily handshake before proceeding to their new classrooms. During the two week orientation program, students will learn about the Morning Program and will begin social rotation classes. “We had a wonderful first day,” said a second grade teacher. “The teachers and students are so excited about this program!” Summer Intersession will culminate in a special induction ceremony on July 30. Students will have the remainder of the summer off, returning on Tuesday, September 2, the first day of school for all Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

In this first year, students in kindergarten through second grade who are zoned to the Seatack Elementary, An Achievable Dream Academy will attend. Students will wear uniforms and will participate in the program’s award-winning SAME® (social, academic and moral education) curriculum, which focuses on preparation for college and careers. Zoned third through fifth grade students will continue at Seatack Elementary, and the principal and staff will work to share An Achievable Dream experiences with all students. One class will be added to the Seatack Elementary, An Achievable Dream Academy each year. In three years, a second location will be added to ensure that students remain in An Achievable Dream through middle and high school.
