Smithfield Foods Showcases An Achievable Dream Alumna in ‘Good Is What We Do’ Campaign

Smithfield Foods has pledged millions of dollars in funding to organizations improving access to education to help break down structural inequalities in our communities. Their philanthropic initiatives provide educational opportunities to employees, their families, and the community.

We are grateful for our longstanding partnership with Smithfield Foods. Their support over the years has made an immeasurable difference in the lives of our Dreamers. We were honored to be chosen as one of the organizations featured in Smithfield’s recent “Good Is What We Do” campaign. Their newest vignette highlights our partnership and features our Class of 2016 alumna and Smithfield Foods employee, Lashondra Walker.

Of An Achievable Dream’s partnership with Smithfield Foods, Dr. Lee Vreeland, president and CEO, shared, “We couldn’t do what we do without Smithfield. The unique thing about Smithfield is that it’s so much more than just being a partner. It is also their connection with our students. Whether it is reading to the students or the What It Takes program, they are always engaged.”

Lashondra is an Associate Network Optimization Analyst at Smithfield Foods. “I love my job a lot. I like looking at the data, the records, and learning and working with the different departments. I think there are parallels between Smithfield and An Achievable Dream – having the drive for success and molding an employee or a student to be where they want to be, whether that’s academically or in the workforce,” said Lashondra.
